I’ve been struggling to keep track of my daily expenses, and it feels like money just slips through my fingers without me realizing where it’s going. With bills, groceries, and other random purchases adding up, I’m finding it hard to stick to my budget. What are effective strategies for tracking daily expenses to gain better control over my spending habits? Any tools or methods you’d recommend?

  • YNAB (You Need a Budget): Utilizes the zero-based budgeting method, assigning every dollar a specific role.

  • Cash-Based: Allocate cash for each spending category into separate envelopes. Spend only what’s in the envelope.

For some reason, I still use a pocket schedule to keep track of my bills and when they are due. The paper notebook that comes with your cheque book is another way I keep track of everything I buy. It’s old school, but it works.
