How Do You Budget for Subscriptions That Are Yearly?

Hi guys

I’m trying to get into budgeting, but I’m confused about how to handle yearly subscriptions. Where do you place those budgets? Should I budget for them monthly, or only on the month the subscription comes due?

Would they be part of the monthly budget as a fixed expense or part of a sort of sinking fund account? I’m a bit confused because if I budget monthly, the money doesn’t really go anywhere until I have to pay the actual subscription.

Thanks for any advice

Mark renewal dates on your calendar to ensure you have enough funds when payments are due. review your subscriptions annually to determine if any adjustments are necessary.

I decide on a total amount I want to save or spend each year. At the start of each month (or whenever I remember), I choose all the categories I need to pay for and click a button to pay for them all at once. I make it easy by using a category called “subscriptions” and break them down into monthly payments.
