Buying essentials for the whole year

It occurred to me that I could save money if I bought in bulk for the whole year, but I am not sure where to begin. Anyone have any experience or advice on how to execute this?

From a budgeting perspective, I amortize the expense. I track transactions by specifying the number of months. Amortized expenses offset against savings rather than income.

Yes, buying in bulk will save you money in the long run. It took us about two years to build up our stock at home. We bought essentials as they went on sale and got more than we needed at the time. Once you build up your stock, your grocery spending might go down. We shop once a week for maintenance items and wait for sales to buy larger quantities. Just be sure to spread the cost over time instead of buying everything at once.

That sounds like a great plan! I’ll start by making a list of nonperishable items we buy every month. I also coupon and shop sales, so I can buy extra when I see a good deal.
