Budgeting 101 for ADHD?

Hi! I’m 30F and want to finally start budgeting. I do really well with step-by-step explicit instruction. Manual and/or digital options are welcome, also YouTube videos that you really like to teach me. I have ADHD and would love something that keeps that in mind, if possible. Thank you!

I recommend checking out these resources: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jpmr8vF0e_4 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPm9-4M6NAA. You might also find the Buckets app and Rocket Money helpful. A zero-based budgeting method could work well; you allocate a specific amount for categories and stick to it, allowing flexibility within limits.

Start at r/personalfinance for a flowchart on budgeting. You might benefit from the YNAB (You Need A Budget) system, which has a supportive community and resources. Some good personal finance books include ‘Zombie Economics’ and ‘I Will Teach You To Be Rich’.

Hi! The app I’m working on is straightforward and ADHD-friendly. I’d be happy to explain each step and give you budgeting tips. Let me know if you’re interested!

I use Budgetum. It’s simple and allows custom categories each month, which might work well for you.

I use YNAB, and it helps with my ADHD. It gives me options and the flexibility to add categories as needed.

I support YNAB too. I love the dopamine hit when I make a transaction that stays within budget.

I use Monarch, which categorizes transactions and budgets for you initially. This really helped me with my ADHD, but just double-check the categories.
