I’m 25 and need help with budgeting. Math isn’t my strong suit, and I have a pretty unhealthy relationship with money. I’ve got two credit cards maxed out at 95-98%, and I’m trying to work on my bad spending habits. I seriously need an app where I can just plug in my numbers and let it do the work for me. I can’t figure out Excel at all (probably overthinking it). If anyone can explain Excel like I’m a total beginner, that’d be amazing. Or if you know any good budgeting apps that act like a digitized checkbook, please let me know! My credit is bad, and I want to fix that to eventually get a car. I just want to have a healthy savings account and improve my relationship with money… thanks a lot!
You have to do the work if you want to improve. Look online for a Google Sheets budget template and keep track of everything. Use the envelope method if you need to. Set limits and stick to them.

I’m doing the work, and I’m committed, but it obviously doesn’t get better overnight.
It doesn’t get better overnight… sometimes it takes months. Just keep at it and stay diligent.
You really need to do it yourself. An app can help you get started with a budget, but it won’t tell you what’s realistic for your life. Check your past spending for a more accurate budget.

What do you mean by looking back at past spending?
@JANTY
Just check how much you usually spend on things like groceries and gas. It helps you set realistic limits.
Send me a list of your expenses and income. I can help you create a budget that includes savings and paying off your credit card debt!

Let me build that list and I’ll send it over! I really appreciate your help.
@Asa
No problem! Just send it over when you can, and I’ll help you detail a budget.
Using Excel is really useful. Just track your expenses there and it does the math for you. I set up my spending plan with categories like fixed costs and fun spending.

How do I set that up in Excel? I really struggle with it.
@Asa
You can list your expenses in one column, and then type ‘=sum(‘ and highlight the boxes you want to add. It’s pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.
