Hi forum members…
I’m trying to get into budgeting, but I’m confused about how to handle yearly subscriptions. Where do you place those budgets? Should I budget for them monthly, or only on the month the subscription comes due?
Would they be part of the monthly budget as a fixed expense or part of a sort of sinking fund account? I’m a bit confused because if I budget monthly, the money doesn’t really go anywhere until I have to pay the actual subscription.
Thanks for any advice

I find that it’s helpful to set up sinking funds for my personal expenses. To do this, I divide my annual bills by 12, biannual bills by 6, and quarterly bills by 3. Then, I make sure to set aside that amount each month in a high yield savings account. This way, I’ll have the money ready when I need it.

The best way to budget for yearly subscriptions is to track renewal dates and set aside funds monthly. Create a dedicated savings account or use budgeting apps to allocate funds and avoid surprises at renewal time.
