What's the best free budgeting software?

I checked out the App Store for budgeting apps, but the ones people say are the best or most recommended all cost money every month, like Copilot and Every Dollar. I want a budget planner that’s safe, simple to use, and doesn’t cost a lot, preferably free or not $100 a year. Any suggestions?

You can download Microsoft Money Sunset Deluxe for free (not from the Microsoft store). There are no subscription fees, but also no updates or support. It’s all manual entry, meaning you can’t download data from your financial institutions. However, if you enter your transactions every day or two, it’s very easy to use. It allows you to run reports and search for entries, categories, and custom time intervals. I’ve been using MS Money for 19 years!
