Suggestion for a Salary of $40,000

With my yearly income of $40,000, each check I receive is approximately $2,400 after taxes.

In addition to food, medicine, a doctor, therapy, etc., my monthly expenses include $1,100 for rent, utilities, and water; my car payment is $350; and my auto insurance is $150. I simply don’t know how to make ends meet with this pay. No, I’m not moving for a year. After that year, I’m looking for somewhere cheaper.

Ok well I’ll start with the most obvious cheap recipe and I’ll come back with some more later.

Great breakfast/snack/sweet treat cheap is overnight oats. I know it doesn’t sound good but try this: 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/2 cup whatever type of milk you like (I use oat because it’s better for my cholesterol). That’s the base recipe. You can add anything you want for flavor from there. I add cinnamon and about a tablespoon of maple syrup. If I’m feeling fancy I cut up some apple and throw that in there too. So just add the oats, milk, syrup (if you want it sweet), and optional extra shit. Then, stir it and put it in the fridge. Leave it for like 3 or more hours (I think up to like 5 days max) and then you can eat it. I make like 7 at a time and grab them whenever. Replenish when I run out.

If you like the recipe (seriously I know it sounds gross but everyone likes it), then you can get rolled oats in bulk and it’s so cheap. If you want to sweeter, put more maple syrup

Great! Thank you for the great idea

Our circumstances are quite similar. I wish I could give you advise, but at the moment I manage by sacrificing a few very significant things. I just wanted you to know that you’re not by yourself!

My income is somewhat lower than yours, my rent is higher, and I take care of my elderly husband. We paid the full $2K and our automobile is less expensive. Only you would know that you’re doing well. Are you really following a budget plan? It ought to indicate your remaining balance, allowing you to allocate those funds between short-term savings and an emergency fund.

Can you find someone to live with? A breakdown of the remaining costs would be beneficial. Generally speaking, cutting back on entertainment, dining out, and groceries is simple.

Pick up a second job and/or work more hours at your current job.
