So I switched from an Android phone to iPhone and need some simple budget app to track my expenses. I’ve used a very simple and obscure app on Android for 11 years (called Pocket Budget, it’s hard to find and hasn’t even been updated for about 4 years I think) and I really like the simplicity of it. There are a ton of different apps but they all seem to lack what I like - the ability to just create a budget, name it whatever I want, and start putting expenses or incomes to it. All apps seem to be month-based, but I do not want that. I usually create a new budget when I get paid every month and then start spending from this until the next payday - I just keep track of how much I spend from payday to payday. Do you have any ideas for this kind of app?
I use the Every Dollar app: EveryDollar: Personal Budget on the App Store
Honestly, is there a reason it needs to be an app? I just use a spreadsheet in Google Sheets. Can update on my phone or laptop, tailor it exactly how I want, and adjust it easily as my needs change.
Check this out: Mint Successor - Google Sheets. It’s a list of apps to choose from, they all have different price plans and functions. I chose Wealth Position for flexibility. It’s a bit complex to set up but really useful for planning finances.
I’m using Boney App, it’s available through any device with Chrome. Advanced expense tracker, with shareable budgets.
I don’t use an app. I keep my receipts and document them daily in my expense tracker. I use pen to paper method because it is faster than turning on your computer to document.
May I try and convince you why the monthly budget cycle makes the most sense? My app, Centsible, is based around that. You didn’t specify if your checks come in once a month or weekly, but let’s say you get paid twice a month. Most bills may end up in one cycle, which could lead you to think you have more money than you do. Why do the work of planning your budget every paycheck when most bills are monthly? Just a thought!

IDK, that sounds complicated… What do you mean by envelope budgeting?

Good question! Envelope budgeting is treating your digital money like cash. You only spend what you have, which helps you be more intentional with your money.
Try the billFoldify app for both iOS and Android.
Calendar Budget is a good option.
Unpopular opinion, but I’m more of a visual person & use a spreadsheet. I have a Google spreadsheet and I budget my paycheck the night before I get paid. I keep receipts to update my budget.
I use Spendee.
