Hi, I’m starting a budget planner and wondering if I should enter info from last month, October, or just kick things off with November. What do you all think?
Write down what you spent in October. Then, write down what you plan to spend in November. At the end of November, jot down what you actually spent. Compare it to your plan and adjust as needed for December. Rinse and repeat.
@Jordy
Thank you!
Honestly? I’d just start with November. You could review your spending from the last three months to help with your November budget. But your first few budgets will probably be off. It’s just part of the learning process. You’ll get way better at this over time. Good luck, it’s totally worth it!

I mean that when you start budgeting, it’s normal to underestimate or overestimate your expenses. It’s all about learning what works for you.
I think it’s a good idea to look back at your spending. It helps you understand your habits better.

Yeah, that makes sense. I guess seeing where my money went can help me plan better.
Starting fresh in November could be less overwhelming. Just focus on getting into the habit first!

Exactly! The key is consistency, not perfection at the start.
Don’t stress too much about it! Budgeting is a learning experience, just go with what feels right for you.
