I recently got Simplifi, but it doesn’t seem to allow manual transaction entries, and honestly, it has a lot of features I don’t need. I’m looking for a spending tracker that lets me enter my transactions myself, create my own categories, and shows me how much I’ve spent in various categories over the past month, quarter, or even year. I’m not a spreadsheets person, and honestly, I find them a bit dull. I like nice, accessible, clean designs. So now that I’ve narrowed it down, what do you suggest?
You could just make your own Google spreadsheet. It lets you customize everything exactly how you want and even has a mobile app for entering transactions on the go.
I also use a budget spreadsheet, specifically Apple Numbers on my Mac/iPad. It’s pretty straightforward and allows for customization. I even integrated AppleScript for some automated workflows.
Have you tried YNAB? I really liked it, but I’m exploring other apps too. I’ve tried a few like Rocket Money and Copilot, but I want something that gives me a nice dashboard while still letting me see my account balances.
I’ve been using Google Sheets and Notion boards, but it can get messy with multiple accounts. I’ve switched to dollarpilot.finance, which has a simplified dashboard for tracking everything.
You might want to check out ExpensesOK. It does exactly what you’re looking for, and the base model is free.
GoodSteward.io supports everything you need. It’s free if you only want to add transactions manually, and it has customizable budget categories.
