I have set aside $75 a week for groceries for my family of three, shortly to grow to four. It is becoming more and more difficult, particularly as grocery prices rise while our income stays stagnant.
I could come up with cheaper dinner ideas, such as baked potatoes, soup, rice, and beans, but neither my husband nor my toddler son will touch any of those. Since my husband detests leftovers, I make a special dinner seven evenings a week. Does anyone else find it difficult to limit their food spending? What kinds of meals are prepared for you during the week?

The budget needs to be approved by your husband. He must shop and arrange meals that fit within his budget if he is going to be particular about what he eats. (Even if you are still the one preparing them) He must also mature and understand that when finances are tight, there is no choice but to accept leftovers.

That is right. It is perplexing that anyone would tolerate such nonsense. It is bad enough that I have dated fussy eaters; if we were broke and they refused leftovers, I would prepare for myself and let them fend for themselves. That kind of crap takes up too much of my time.

It is very wasteful and stressful for you to cook seven nights a week, my father said.
