How to think about time frame.. statement cycles..?

I am trying to budget but it feels confusing to correlate dates and time frames…

On my credit cards, my statements are like 8/10-910 and I pay it on 10/1… I’d like to THINK and budget that my 10/1 payment is paying for 9/1-9/30… but I guess that’s not the case.

Does anyone have any tips for ways to think about this?

For budgeting, I don’t think about my credit card time frames
I use the actual dates of my purchases
Credit card payments are not a factor in my budgeting

@JANTY thank you so much

I budget and track by calendar month and pay off the credit card on the last day of the month. Makes it easy to track actual against budget as I go through the month - current card balance is always my mtd spend.

@JOSH thank you so much

Almost all my transactions go on my credit card. If I spend within my budgets, then my credit card statement will be around the same amount each month. So off each paycheque I set aside half my normal credit card statement in a separate bank account. That earns some interest on the 1st, then I pay it off. Each transaction that makes up my credit card statement is logged in the month it occurred.

Pending credit card transactions don’t show on statements. Track purchases immediately for accuracy
