Help me find the right budgeting app

Hey guys, I’m on the hunt for a budgeting app and I’m struggling to find the right one. I want something that lets me link my bank, credit card, PayPal, Venmo, etc., so I can track all my spending and earnings. I’d love to create spending categories and automatically categorize my transactions. But here’s the kicker—I need an app that sends me a notification after each purchase to let me know which category it went into, how much I’ve spent in that category for the month, and how much I have left to spend. I want to know how much I can spend on non-essentials in real-time. If it tracks investments or calculates net worth, that would be a bonus! Anyone have suggestions? Oh, and has anyone tried Rocket Money? It looks promising.

I’ve been using a simple method with pen and paper, tracking my income and expenses manually. It works for me, but I know it’s not for everyone.

I use the free version of EveryDollar. You have to input everything manually, but it’s a pretty easy habit to get into. The premium version lets you link accounts, but I haven’t tried it.

Thanks for the info! I’ll consider trying the premium version if I go that route.

Monarch can do all of this once you set the categories. They have a 30-day free trial if you want to give it a shot! Check it out here: Redeem your extended 30-day trial for Monarch | Monarch Money

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll definitely check out Monarch.

I get what you’re looking for! I haven’t found anything with notifications after each purchase like you described, but Habit Money is great for tracking and it sends daily reminders to stay on top of spending. It auto-categorizes transactions too.

@Sawyer
Daily reminders sound useful! I’ll look into Habit Money too. Thanks!

You can also link your bank account to Mint. It’s pretty popular for budgeting, but I’m not sure about the notifications.
