I used to be an emotional spender during my recent maternity leave for about 1.5 years. I found myself going to second-hand stores, convincing myself that I was saving money by thrifting, while I was actually spending little amounts here and there that added up to larger sums. I was overspending each month by about $1,000 to $2,000. About three months ago, I started using an envelope app, and it has worked really well for me. It’s a basic envelope-style budgeting app, and it’s free, which is a bonus since I’m not keen on paying for apps.
Mind sharing what app you used? TIA
Thank you so much for sharing this. I really needed to hear about this approach.
Congrats on kicking emotional spending to the curb. That’s amazing to hear.
I relate to that. I’ve noticed how much unnecessary stuff I was buying. Now when I want to spend, I check my envelope balance and it straightens me out.
I’m happy for you. I also struggle with emotional overspending. I make decent money but I can’t seem to hold on to it. Thanks for the idea, I’m downloading the app now.
Now that you’re getting a handle on spending, maybe find a new hobby that doesn’t revolve around shopping. Keep it going.
