My wife and I (both 36) are looking at redoing our budget. We have a 3 year-old, and live well enough, but know we could be saving more. I could go into more details, but what i’d really like is to just know what others families budgets look like in similar situations (families of 3 or 4). The 6,000 is post tax, if that helps.
Thanks in advance.

Family of 3 with similar income.
Mortgage 1850
Utilities (including phone/internet): about $350
Insurance $80
Groceries $600
Only debt is house.
Everything else goes into savings/investment/retirement
We take a couple big vacations a year (in the $2k range). We do a lot of credit card hacking
I’m a stay at home parent. So don’t need to worry about childcare.

With the credit card hacking is it a lot to track and keep up with?

A lot is a pretty subjective term

Wow! How do you keep groceries at $600 ? And how do you keep utilities so low? I’d you don’t mind me asking, what state are you in?

Utilities are really high imo. I’m in Las Vegas and have a pool. Electric ranges from 80-550 a month. So I just did the average.
We eat a lot of chicken. Thighs are $2.99 a lb here.
Utilities were Way cheaper when we were in CA
