Hello, I am looking to switch from using spreadsheets for budgeting because I am not consistent with updating them. I want to improve how I track my spending on necessities. However, my local credit union does not work with Plaid, the service that links your bank to budget apps. Does anyone have any recommendations? Ideally, I am looking for a free app or one that costs less than $10 a month.
Ditch the spreadsheets! Here are budget app options that donβt rely on Plaid for your credit union:
- Free: Mint (manual entry), EveryDollar (zero-based budgeting)
- Under $10/month: YNAB (manual entry, proactive budgeting, $8.99), PocketGuard (secure read-only connection, $7.99 with free trial)
Choose an app you like and focus on consistent updates for budgeting success!
The app Centsible is something I developed. For tablets and smartphones, it is envelope budgeting. However, manual entry. While it makes life easier when you forget to update transactions for a few days, I did include CSV bank import. Also excellent is the pricing model. For offline use, a one-time purchase is all you need. If you wish to sync your data between devices, you may purchase an optional subscription at a discounted rate. Please ask any queries you may have.
There are a number of budgeting apps that donβt require Plaid to link your accounts. YNAB, EveryDollar and Mint are some options.
