Best Personal Money Management App?

Hello forum…

I’m looking for a personal money management app to help me keep track of my finances, budget, and savings goals. There are so many options out there, and I’m not sure which one to choose.

What do you think is the best app for managing personal finances?

YNAB well worth the money. It has been in use by me for almost 11 years.

I’m a fan of the good ‘ol spreadsheet myself.

Your banking institution should have some exportable CVS’s that you can download. Categorize your spendings to see where you’ve been putting your money the last 3 months. This will help you notice where you’re over-spending. Your bank may already have this feature built into the app or website.

The big thing that helps me before buying something shiny is asking myself “Will this improve my quality of life? Is what I currently plan to replace this with actually not doing what I want it to?”

Also, plan to automatically set aside a small amount of your check directly into your savings account. Even if it’s 5%, that’s 5% more than you may have saved if it landed in your checking.

No problem! Choosing a money management app is like picking jeans - it depends on your needs. Here are some popular options:

  • YNAB: Great for controlling spending, allocates every dollar to goals.
  • Mint: Tracks spending and shows all accounts in one place, good for beginners.
  • PocketGuard: Shows how much you have left to spend after bills, helps avoid overspending.

Think about what features matter to you - automatic tracking, budgeting tools, or goal setting? Then check out review sites like NerdWallet or Forbes Advisor to find the perfect app for your financial journey!
