I’ve really been struggling trying to work out my own budget and stick to it just because I work very little (mostly because I’m a full time student with a very limited schedule), and my schedule is a constantly changing. I need advice on finding a good budgeting app that’s free and can help me figure out how to allocate my funds. Also any tips on saving money would be super helpful!
I use a spreadsheet (Apple Numbers)
Google Sheets until I die!
@JANTY Same. I’ve got a template for our weekly transactions and each category of spending for the month gets added up automatically. Takes a few hours to get set up initially but it’s so worth it!
@EARTH Yeah last month was my first month and honestly there was tweaks every week, but that barely took any time at all. The customization to be like “I want it to do this and show this” is just everything budget apps can’t do. It definitely made connecting with my finances much more enjoyable.
Switched due to lack of app customization; created an Excel budget easily to share and edit with spouse.
But for real I used some addition functions and set some rules to change the colors between red and green and that’s all it was. Don’t even need to be an expert?
I’m a fan of the every dollar app. They have a premium version too if you want which I finally pulled the trigger on last month bc I wanted the reporting aspect now that it’s routine. We used the free version in our household for just over a year before upgrading. I liked sticking to the free version since it forced you to enter every expense and really showed you where your money goes.
