So my hubby is pretty terrible at keeping receipts, and I need something super simple for him to track his spending. Does anyone know an easy app that can help him see how much of our budget is left to spend? Like, just something straightforward he can use without getting overwhelmed.
You might want to try YNAB or Everyday (the paid version). If he links his bank account to the app, it tracks his spending automatically.
I do mine through Excel. Not sure if he’s into that, but basically, you want to keep it simple from the start. Just track income versus expenses at the end of the month. Once you see where the expenses are high, you can dig into categories like bars, restaurants, or fast food. It’s all about knowing where you’re at, right? You could even just write down income and total spending on paper to start things off.
I recommend Centsible. It’s cheaper than the other big envelope budget apps and has all the core functions you need. Just keep in mind it’s mobile/tablet only, but it makes tracking spending per category super easy.
