As the title says, I’m 21F and I suck with money. I grew up poor and still live with my parents since I’m a full-time student. I cover my own bills, which total about $600/month, but my hours were cut recently, so I’ll be making around $1,050/month. I’ve tried budgeting, but I can never stick to it. My biggest expense is fast food—anytime I’m out, I buy it. I don’t even want to say how much I spend, but it’s crazy. I often regret impulse buys, and I don’t have any savings right now, plus I owe about $950 on a credit card. I’m impatient and try to put too much in savings, leaving me broke for bills and expenses. I really need help figuring out how to manage my money better—like how much to save and how to tackle my credit card debt. Any advice would be appreciated! FYI, I get paid every two weeks, so that’s about $525 each time.
Hey, it sounds like you’re dealing with a lot! Have you thought about cutting down on fast food? That’s a big chunk of your budget.
I feel you on the impulse buys! Have you tried using cash for those expenses? It really helps me stick to a budget.
Consider tracking your spending for a month to see where it all goes. It might surprise you!
I also recommend checking out some financial literacy courses. Khan Academy has some free ones that could help.
You’re not alone in this! Just start small—maybe save $50 a month to build a habit without stressing too much.
